SST and service charge calculator

Split any Malaysian F&B bill into food, service charge, and SST. Works both ways: start from menu prices, or back-calculate from the printed total.

Food and drinksRM 100.00
Service charge (10%)RM 10.00
SubtotalRM 110.00
SST (6%)RM 6.60
TotalRM 116.60

Service charge is applied to the bill first, then SST is charged on the subtotal including service charge. TimeoPro POS prints this breakdown on every receipt automatically.

Calculations run in your browser. Nothing is stored.

TimeoPro POS applies service charge and SST correctly on every bill and prints the breakdown on the receipt, LHDN e-invoice included.

Common questions

Is service charge added before or after SST in Malaysia?

Service charge is added to the bill first. SST is then calculated on the subtotal including the service charge. So on a RM 100 bill with 10% service charge and 6% SST, service charge is RM 10 and SST is RM 6.60, for a total of RM 116.60.

Is the 10% service charge compulsory in Malaysia?

No. Service charge is set by the outlet, not the government. Outlets that charge it must display it clearly on menus and receipts. It goes to the business, typically shared with staff, and it is separate from SST.

What is the SST rate for restaurants in Malaysia?

Food and beverage prepared and served by restaurants is generally subject to 6% service tax. Some other taxable services are charged at 8%. Check your receipt or ask the outlet which rate applies.
